Neverland Card Battles Coming Soon!

August 24, 2008 - The second retail game I've worked on is coming to the PSP in a couple of months, called 'Neverland Card Battles', an anime-style strategy/card game. You can find more information on it on the teaser website at www.neverlandcardbattles.com. The official game trailer (which I put together) and official website will be coming really soon.

Double D Dodgeball Announced

May 29, 2008 - Yesterday Double D Dodgeball was announced, the first retail game I've worked on. It's coming out sometime this summer for Xbox Live Arcade.

I learned a lot about development, production, marketing, PR, video editing, and the overall process of console game development during the course of this project, and I'm incredibly glad I've had this opportunity to have helped contribute to the development of this game.

Anyway, if you have an Xbox 360, please check out the demo once the game is released, and click the logo above if you're curious and want some more information on it.

New job, Nanowrimo, and a few minor additions.

December 10, 2007 - A few weeks ago I started working as Lead Game Designer for Yuke's Company of America, and the experience has been great so far, but my association with them will probably end up affecting this site in subtle ways.

Web games I've worked on that they may be interested I may put aside so they can be put forward as a possible console project in the future.

Also, I decided to add a light advert for their most recent published game at the bottom of all my web pages, since the more our games sell the more stable my job is and the more resources they'll be able to put into the games I develop.

Besides that, I also brought back the link to the high scores list for the games on here, and I also added Proximity HD to the games gallery on the main page, now that this news item will knock the previous one off the home page.

In personal news, I participated for the 3rd time in Nanowrimo this year, and because of all the craziness in transitioning from my old job to my new one, I wasn't able to write a full 50,000 words this month, but I did manage 34,000. So you may see an excerpt from that posted on here at some point in the future, for those that are interested.

Next on the list is to add groups for the content on the site, so I can start adding game documents and other junk I've been wanting to throw on here for quite some time. Life has been pretty busy lately, so it might be awhile.

Proximity HD becomes a finalist in Microsoft's Dream-Build-Play competition

August 13, 2007 - Yes, that's right, Proximity HD has become a finalist! The final results are announced later today!

Also, you can now try the game for yourself on your Windows PC. Just follow the link and follow the instructions:

Website Redesigned, and XNA Competition.

July 05, 2007 - The website has now been cleaned up. These pages are now as void of junk as possible, only showing the information most people would care about, thus making my homepage a better candidate for this social networking linkage than other websites that happen to have my game on them, and makes the site less confusing, as well. It also happens to load quicker, due to a few tweaks on the server side.

A few features are still not implemented in the new design (high scores, printer friendly views, etc), which should be taken care of within a few weeks.

In other news, earlier this week I submitted a polished demo of Proximity HD (Proximity sequel, in a beautiful 720p), to Microsoft's Dream Build Play competition. If I win that, I'll be able to publish the game through XBox Live Arcade, so hopefully things will work out there. Even if it doesn't win, I'll start hunting for some companies that might be interested in publishing it. It's a lot of fun to play this with 4 players on the Xbox 360, hopefully you will be able to do so as well by this time next year!

Next up on my plate is to get Arrows Away finished and out there. It's been sitting around long enough. I'll probably get it out by the end of August at the latest.

Too much information.

April 13, 2007 - I realized there's just too much text on this website. It's not focused, and most people don't care about all this extra junk, especially people who would like a nice, clean place to link to the games so they're not distracted by all this extra text on the side.

So I've got a couple ideas on how to improve the design, and I'm going to hopefully get this cleaned up over the course of the next month. Well, hopefully by next month. I've got XBLA competition for Microsoft that's taking up a lot of my time right now, also. And I'd still like to retool some of my games for WiiCade when I get the chance. And add high score support for more games. Plus a billion other things.

New Game, Formation, Wins Contest; Traffic Crashes Website

April 03, 2007 - I'm a little late in reporting the news, but my latest game, Formation, just won 1st place (which is basically 2nd place, since there's a "grand prize" above mine) in the "World's Most Addictive AddictingGames Contest", hosted by Atom Films/Shockwave.

I got a nice cash prize, some of which will go towards a laptop so I can work on games when I'm not home.

Shortly afterwards, JayisGames.com wrote a nice review for the game, and it brought in a huge swarm of traffic swiftly and unexpectedly. The day after he posted the review my website received 3.5 Gigabytes of bandwidth, and probably would have gotten more if the site hadn't gotten the dreaded "Bandwidth Limit Exceeded" message. It's fixed now, and I'm still getting a lot of traffic, but it has tapered down a little.

I wasn't expecting Formation to do quite as well as it's already done. It was just intended to be a small little project to give me a somewhat unique take on the evasion genre and give me another high-score-based game for my personal website.

Apparently I managed to hit on the "so simple, yet very addictive" a second time. That's good, because I was starting to get a little worried that I would only ever be known for making Proximity for awhile there :P.

Proximity Cracks 1,000,000 Views!

December 12, 2006 - I just tallied the latest view counts on all the sites Proximity is on that I'm aware of that have view stats, and the final count shot over a million this month! I already knew it had broken that barrier a long, long time ago, since the most popular sites its on (Ebaumsworld, 2FlashGames, NewsandEntertainment, FetchFido, and a few others) do not track views and I get a ton of email from them in comparison to other places, but now it's official! Break.com by itself boosted it by almost 300k.

I'm also getting a lot of new traffic from StumbleUpon recently, so I just want to say welcome, and ask that you check out some of my other works, not JUST Proximity. If nothing else, check out the demo for the new version of Proximity I plan on releasing relatively soon.

I need a real update here soon, I know. I plan on adding a couple games here by the end of January, and I'm going to start working on a new subcategory feature so that I can post a bunch of more minor works that may interest some people, like early builds of released games, prototypes of abandoned games, source code, tutorials, design documents, etc. I'm sure a lot of you wouldn't be interested but I know some people who would find the process interesting.

So until then, have lots of fun, and feel free to use my site as a way to kill some time when you're bored!

NEW GAME! Happy Clock Day!

August 15, 2006 - I finally released a new game everyone! The curse has been broken! Clock Tournament is a sidescrolling shooter game similar to Counter-Strike. You may have played an early demo, but it's gotten a ton of updates since then. Give it a try, and ask any questions or report any bugs in the forums!

A Few Tweaks...

July 21, 2006 - I fixed some typos, added a new poll (I'm curious what games the people who come here like to play most), and I fixed a couple bad links I noticed.

Hopefully soon I'll have some new content for you guys, but right now I've had a hell of a time trying to keep my home computers working. You can read all about that wonderful crisis over in my blog.

Proximity's 2nd Anniversary is in 6 days! I wanted to have Proximity DX finished to celebrate, but it's looking like I won't get that opportunity. I don't know, we'll see.

Now you can spy on me!

June 01, 2006 - I've set up a blog, finally, mostly to post a daily activity log so you can keep track of what I've been up to and will hopefully keep me making progress on my writing and games, since on days when I don't do anything, everyone will know.

It also serves for my thoughts on whatever, and I'll probably post links to cool web/indie games or books I encounter, plus any thoughts I have on things. I'll probably also post abridged version of my reflections, and maybe even some of my experimental writing, as well.

Everything is sorted in categories, so you can pick and choose what you want to read.

Download Proximity!

May 02, 2006 - Yeah, I finally added a feature to allow direct downloads for stuff on the site. So far I only have it set up for Proximity, although that's what everyone's asking for a copy of anyway. Just go to the page the game is on and click the "Download to Hard Drive" link. It's free! Enjoy!

Site Issues

April 04, 2006 - I haven't updated the site lately because I've been A) Lazy. B) Haven't completed anything yet. and C) Focusing more on another website I think will generate some income and help a lot of people out. I'll try to get some fresh content on here (even if it's old stuff I haven't added yet) sometime soon.

For some reason some of the quotation marks are showing up as question marks in my stories. I've been trying to figure it out, but I'm still having problems. I have a feeling it's an encoding issue, as it appears to be stored fine in the database (geek alert), but no matter what I tweak it's still not wanting to work. I'll deal with it later.

Poll Feature Added

March 03, 2006 - Just added a poll to the site. Give it a try, and give me ideas for future polls, if you've got a good one in mind.

Proximity Fixed, News System Updated, Auto RSS

February 28, 2006 - It came to my attention that Proximity wasn't submitting high scores, so I think I got that taken care of. If you're still having problems, someone please contact me and let me know.

I also really beefed up the news section, so now you can see all the past news items, and even comment on them if you wish, and I can even add formatting now if I so desire.

Also, I figured out how to automate the RSS feed so now I don't have to do it manually and accidentally forget to update it like I did the last two times.

Backend Work

February 28, 2006 - Over the past week I got a lot of work on the backend done, so now it's a lot easier for me to change information (add formatting, Q&A, strategies for games, etc) and be notified when people add comments and beat high scores without having to check the database directly. Nothing for you guys to play with, though, just me.

High Scores For Proximity

February 15, 2006 - My web host choked again, so the site was down for a full day, and then when it came back up I had to reset or rework some stuff since it reset the server options, so most of the interactivity with the site has been down until just now. On the good side, however, I added high score support for Proximity, added a new Work in Progress, and updated Proximity DX and Clock Tournament.

RSS Support

February 08, 2006 - The site now has an RSS feed, so you can subscribe to it using your favorite RSS reader and keep in-the-loop on all the updates to the site. I also added high score support for Save The Ring.

High Score Support Added

February 07, 2006 - I just got high score support working on the website, illustrated with the game Squarez! Try to beat the top score or get on the top 100 list! I'll add support for the other games soon.

Comment System Added!

February 01, 2006 - Just added a comments system. Feel free to share your thoughts on my creative works.

Site Launched!

January 12, 2006 - The site is not quite ready yet, but I'm going to go ahead and "release" it anyway. Expect several minor changes over the next week or so, and for some garbage on the front page every once in awhile while I test stuff out.

Sneak Peek

December 16, 2005 - Sneak preview of my updated, dynamic webpage. I am still adding features and tweaking things.

Neves - A game available now for the Nintendo DS with over 500 silhouette puzzles, recently published by my company. You can try a demo of the game on the Neves website. Also on Amazon and Myspace.
